چکیده
Heart rate variability (HRV) provides a noninvasive method to monitor functioning of the autonomous nervous system. HRV has been proposed as a potential tool for objective assessment of the level of sedation in critical care. In this paper we studied whether different linear and non-linear analysis methods may discriminate different levels of sedation in cardiac surgery patients. In addition we studied the interrelationships between the different parameters. The results show that HRV is modified by changes in the level of sedation, and that it is not completely recovered by the next day after the cardiac surgery. Both linear time and frequency domain parameters, and non-linear parameters discriminate the different levels, but especially the method based on Poincare plot analysis seems promising. As different parameters are closely correlated, a sub-set of parameters may be sufficient in the quantification of HRV in sedation.

Combination of Empirical Mode Decomposition Components of HRV Signals for Discriminating Emotional States
Introduction Automatic human emotion recognition is one of the most interesting topics in the field of affective computing. However, development of a reliable approach with a reasonable recognition rate is a challenging task. The main objective of the present study was to propose a robust method for discrimination of emotional responses thorough examination of heart rate variability (HRV). In t...
متن کاملThe Effects of Heart Rate Variability on Reading Performance among Iranian EFL Learners
Psychophysiological studies and MRI neuro-imaging findings provide evidence that heart rate variability (HRV) which is in control of our emotions affects our brain cognitive centers. It has been shown that coherent heart-brain interaction can change the pattern of the afferent cardiac input that is sent to the brain. For this purpose, the Institute of HeartMath (IHM) has proposed a kind of biof...

In this paper, the empirical equations that estimate hydraulic parameters for non-linear flow through coarse porous media are evaluated using a series of independent data collected in the laboratory. In this regard, three different relatively uniform soils ranging in size from 8.5 to 27.6 mm have been selected and three random samples drawn from each material. The physical characteristics such ...

The AASHTO code of practice for design of bridges shows that the ductility level for foundation is given equal to one. Bridges are classified in three classes. For class of essential and normal bridges a question for not to use ductility level due to the importance of bridges’ costs is become an important item in different countries particularly in Middle east. This paper aimed to study on pe...

Cardiac arrhythmias are one of the most common heart diseases that may cause the death of the patient. Therefore, it is extremely important to detect cardiac arrhythmias. 3 categories of arrhythmia, namely, PAC, PVC, and normal are considered in this paper based on classifier fusion using evidence theory. In this study, at first a sample is carrying out the ECG signal with 250 point. Moreove...
